We had a great time in Michigan ----- got there in time for Thanksgiving and stayed for Christmas ----- well --- it was all in the same day .......... but it was a fun time with our family. However, we were missing half of them. Rick and Claudia live in the Netherlands so, of course, they weren't there. Marti and Tim went to South Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with Tim's parents. We did get to see Marti and Tim and Oliver and Keller for a short, short time --- but it was quality time.
Gary went deer hunting with Clayton several times --- they saw lots of deer but nothing got hung in the barn. There will be another time for that Clayton!!!!
There are no pictures to share of this trip. My mind must have been elsewhere because I forgot several items. One was the camera and another one was my phone. Holly had a solution for the phone. We got to use the boys phone......it's a special "watch type phone". It's all set up with Holly's phone so that means that she knew everything we were doing......who I called...where we were dining... who we were visiting. And we could only call or be called by people whose numbers were installed on the phone. But it was great and we were glad to have it. Maybe it was getting me ready for that time when the younger generation takes over on our happenings. AUGH!!!
We headed back home in a rushed fashion. We were getting ready for church and Gary decided to check the weather.......we knew that snow was predicted for Sunday evening but it really didn't sound very bad. However, the report said "up to 7 inches". We've had experience with lake effect snow while traveling and it's just not something you want to experience again!!! So instead of going to church we changed our clothes, packed up and headed for home. We got as far as Davenport - just across the Mississippi River - and the rain changed to snow. We had been watching the temperature go down and down. Then after passing 4 wrecks (one was a car on one side with it's back bumper missing and the semi that had rear ended it was on the other side of the road)--- that was enough ........we got off at the first exit and got a motel.
The next morning the roads were (mostly) clear and we had good travel --- ----- made it home by 7:00 Monday.
I've been busy trying to make our home look like Christmas and get a few gifts put together........Gary has been busy with a couple of projects. A couple of new windows in the Lodge with Don S. ........ and building a cabinet for a little sink in the breezeway. I believe painting will be done on Friday --- so then the cove heater can go up and then the floor. He's also got a gun hanging in the hallway that is getting a new finish on the stock (for a neighbor).
Well --- I would say this was a rather boring update........but so it is. We are healthy and happy. The county has been working on our 1/2 mile driveway and it is really looking good. We are thankful that they were able to get to it before winter. They've widened it --- it's about 3 lanes wide and has a nice crown in the middle. They even went all the way down to the shop. Thank you!!!!
Predictions are for a winter storm this weekend. I stocked up today with groceries. And then with some projects to do inside --- we should be just fine!! But it sounds like it might mean no church on Sunday --- RATS!!!
